I have fits remembering which creatures I can kill wantonly and which I have to leave alone, like bats. Recently I made the wrong assumption that ghosts were non-evil and let my party back out of the battle. As soon as I did, my Ankh got a little smaller and I got a message informing me I had lost an eighth of my Avatarhood. As soon as I figure out which eighth I’ll get cracking to get it back.
