  1. It seems they are going with the normal marketing reaction…if a little of something works really well, then way more is more betterer.

    In my opinion, this is why so many sequels, or follow-ons, fail. The original was so original that it hit high marks and drew in huge audiences, because it was different. When the next movie is made, they tend to rely on the same bits that made the first one unique and special. What ends up happening, for me anyway, is the viewer gets bored with the excess.

    Two examples of this for me are the Matrix and Hobbit movies. In the matrix, by the time they got to the fight scene with the bajillion Agent Smiths, I was over the brawl fights. There was so much going on it was hard to hide the CGI.

    In the Hobbit movies it was a similar thing. There way too much Legolas and his insane acrobatic/archery skillz. I still haven’t finished the last movie in this series. Maybe someday.

    In the end, I want to be fascinated with the new and original, not just a rehashing of what made the first movie so great.
