I think that part of the problem is that TV has taken their programming to a new level over the years. The production quality of shows like The Expanse and Game of Thrones are on par and sometimes better than movies. For me, with the quality and size of televisions, Blu-ray, and streaming services I still have an enjoyable experience with most movies and don’t see the benefit of going to a theater to pure story-based movies. I’m still a sucker for good SciFi movie with special effects, the kind of stuff theaters were made for.
