We had the opposite problem when we moved to Alabama. The A/C in our rental went out a couple of days after we moved into it, in July 2007. Thankfully our landlord sent someone to fix it. He checked the system out, but wasn’t going to be able to get the part for a couple of days. Thankfully he remembered that our landlord had other properties. One of them had a similar system, but wasn’t occupied. He just borrowed the part from that house and got us cooling off later that day.
