It’s interesting that you didn’t think Dr. Smith seemed truly terrifying until she rebuilt the robot. I found her terrifying from episode 1. Somebody who takes on the identity of her sister to go to a star far, far away is already nuts. Then the psychological games she played with everyone about everything, big or small, was far more terrifying to me than when she openly declared herself a bad guy with the robot.
